Grassroot Efforts - Advocacy Tips and Tricks

SAF members are busy people. We here at SAF headquarters know that you are busy running the day to day responsibilities of your business. You might not have the time to sit down and write up an extended letter to your lawmaker, but you still want to let them know your opinion on an upcoming key issue.

How about just dropping them a line or two in a quick message? If you are just at your computer for a quick minute, drop them a short e-mail congratulating your lawmaker on voting for an issue that benefits your business. Don't spend more then five minutes writing a quick message saying that you either support to dislike their position on an issue and how your business would be affected. It might not seem like much, but these short messages keep your name and business on your lawmaker's radar screen.

Sending a quick thank you note to your lawmaker for a vote or reminding them how their position affects your business is a good way to build a positive relationship with your member of Congress and get their attention focused to the issues you are concerned about.

Looking for some issues to write on? Here are a few options.

Here are our latest AgJOBS cosponsors; SEND THEM A THANK YOU! These four just added last week: Rep. Tom Petri (R-6-WI), Ron Kind (D-3-WI), Rick Larsen (D-2-WA), and Lois Capps (D-23-CA), putting H.R.2414 at 43 cosponsors.
