Tweet tweet. Twitter is here to stay says the Advocacy Guru, Stephanie Vance, and it can be a good resource it keeping in touch with your lawmakers . During a webinar this morning, titled ‘Using Twitter for Advocacy' Vance stressed the importance of providing useful information through Twitter and using the social networking site to connect advocates with similar interests.

stephvanceVance, who spoke at SAF's Congressional Action Days earlier this year made a series of points regarding some best practices while using Twitter.

 

 

Here are a few of her suggestions:

  • Search twitter for topics that are affecting your local area. See what other people on twitter are saying about them and choose to follow them to stay updated
  • Connect with your local government officials and follow them on Twitter. Most representatives and senators are using Twitter feeds to get messages out to their constituents. This a good way to find out about upcoming town hall meetings or your lawmaker's stance on a crucial issue.
